Bits of Marlon Brando to Be Sold at Auction

May 2, 2005

Christie’s is looking to hawk some heavyweight history. On June 30th, the New York auction house will accept bids on some 250 Brando-related items. The upscale auctioneer’s last public foray into the disassembling of estates for profit was 1999’s much-hyped Marilyn Monroe offering. Among the items up for bid are the late actor’s copy of the script to The Godfather and the outfit he wore as patriarch Jor-El in 1978’s Superman. Other items on the block include a collection of potato chips that look like people, a rag on a stick used for bathing and the self-respect he lost while filming the 1996 adaptation of The Island of Doctor Moreau.
